The second installment of the much talked about dancehall riddim "Sleng Teng" x Okinawa folk song "Uchina Sleng Teng Project" is here!
Uchina Slenten is a project centered around Nu-doh and Harikuyamaku. The theme of this second and final album is "Eisa." It is even more danceable than the previous album.
The A-side track, "Kudaka~sunsami," features Taku Oshiro on vocals, MARINO, who is from Miyakojima as on the previous album, on sax, and steel pan player Tonchi.
The result is a song full of tropical vibes. The AA track "Tofune Doi" features YUKINO INAMINE, one of the most popular vocalists in Okinawa right now, and continues to feature SHINGO as MC from the previous album. The ultimate Ryukyu dance hall is complete.

This is the second installment of the "Uchina Sleng Teng Project," which brings together the dancehall riddim "Sleng Teng" and Okinawan folk songs, centered around DJ Nu-doh (Churashima Navigator/Shima's) and trackmaker/dub engineer Harikuyamaku.
The theme of this film is the traditional Okinawan art of Eisa, which is performed during the Obon festival. In Okinawa, where ancestor worship is highly valued, youth groups across the country perform Eisa dances, welcoming their ancestors on July 13th of the lunar calendar and sending them off on the 15th.
The two songs performed this time are big tunes that have become established as standard songs in the Eisa scene. "Kudaka Sunsami" (original title: "Kudaka Manjushu Festival") is
The song sings about gossip about Kudaka Manjushu, a man who is always the subject of much discussion, and gets the crowd excited with the lyrics "Kuyuinu hanashinu umussa (=Tonight's story is interesting)."
The singer-sanshin is Taku Oshiro, a folk singer who was trained by his teacher Misako Oshiro. His singing style, which creates unique "pauses" to match the rhythm, is exquisitely finished, clearly showing his love of reggae.
Saxophonist MARINO and steel pan player Tonchi also join from Miyakojima, colorfully expanding the worldview of the song with phrases that evoke a tropical breeze. "Toushin Doi," which begins with the call "A ship has come from Tang China!" and is often sung with improvised lyrics, is a representative example of Kachashi, an essential part of Okinawan life at celebratory occasions, and is the song that creates a frenzy at the climax of Eisa.
Yukino Inamine, a singer who has attracted attention from overseas for her collaboration with Harikuyamaku in the genre of "dub x folk music," beautifully expresses this passion with her lustrous singing voice and fast-paced sanshin playing.
Furthermore, Shima's SHINGO adds in an emotional MC, creating an uplifting tune.
This important work proves the resonance between the unique Okinawan rhythmic sense latent in Ryukyu folk songs and Jamaican dancehall riddims of the 1980s. A soulful Ryukyu dancehall!
