Okinawa's legendary jazz singer, Sumiko Yoseyama, released her historic album "Interlude" in 2005, featuring a stellar lineup including Naruyoshi Kikuchi, Hiroshi Minami, Daiki Yasukawa, ZAK, and Pardon Kimura. Now available on vinyl for the first time as a 2-LP set!

Okinawan jazz singer Sumiko Yoseyama, beloved by world-renowned jazz pianist Mal Waldron, who accompanies Billie Holiday, has finally been released on vinyl after 19 years, having released her first album in 2005. This album, "Interlude," was recorded entirely on "Interlude" by a stellar lineup from Tokyo, including Naruyoshi Kikuchi (sax), Hiroshi Minami (piano), Daiki Yasukawa (bass), ZAK (engineer), and Pardon Kimura (producer), in order to preserve the history of her own "Interlude" club, which she has maintained since Okinawa's return to mainland Japan in 1972. This historic masterpiece, capturing her deep, bluesy voice, is finally reborn on vinyl.

Sumiko Yoseyama

Born in 1940 on Kohama Island in the Yaeyama Islands, she began performing on stage at age 16, and the following year, in 1957, she performed with Bob Hope and the Les Brown Orchestra. Until Okinawa's return to Japan, she continued to perform with full orchestras at clubs on U.S. military bases. In 1972, she opened the jazz venue "Interlude" in Naha with her husband, saxophonist Fumimasa Ganaha. In addition to performing at the venue, she also performed on the mainland, earning praise from jazz critics and celebrities. Her first album, "Introducing," was released in 1983, garnering acclaim not only in Okinawa but across Japan. The following year, she released "With Mal," a collaboration with Billie Holiday's piano player, Mal Waldron, and in 1985, she released the album "DUO." In 2005, she released her first album in 20 years, "Interlude." In March 2006, she appeared on the TBS program "Jonetsu Tairiku." In 2007, she appeared in the film Koishikute, directed by Yuji Nakae. In the same year, she also appeared in Southbound, directed by Yoshimitsu Morita. She continued to demonstrate her individuality in the film industry, expanding her field of activity.
