Taikuu Jikan is a unique musical unit that reinterprets the magical music of the South Seas, "gamelan," in a modern context, opening up new musical horizons.

The band will release their fifth album, an LP, in 2024, with new member Kakudo Mami and guest musician Minekawa Takako joining the band, bringing together the strongest lineup in the history of Taikuu Jikan. The concept is "birds" that fly freely across genres, categories, countries and lands.

This masterpiece features cutting engineer Shigeru Takezawa (Nippon Columbia) and sound engineer Naoyuki Uchida. Three new tracks have been added from the previous 4th album, "Majo."

The one-of-a-kind orchestra, led by the extraordinary shadow puppeteer/musician Kawamura Koheisai, reinterprets the magical music of the South Seas, "gamelan," in a modern context, opening up new musical horizons.

Based on the concept of "folk songs from an imaginary island," their performance combines the exotic sounds of resonating gamelan and steel pan with modern shadow puppetry, and has received enthusiastic support not only in Japan but around the world.

Their ever-changing festival vibes, which include appearing at Fuji Rock Festival (2024/2025) for the second consecutive year, are sure to be a sight to behold.

To date, they have released five albums and one live DVD.
